Hi there, and Welcome to a platform built around one question: Are you ready?

Like you, the creators of this site have worn many hats: son or daughter, sibling, friend, employee, spouse, parent, and leader.  We all grapple with what it means to be ‘ready,’ a pursuit that begins with lessons from our parents, friends, family, teachers, and mentors.  Our life experiences shape how we face challenges.  RuReady.fyi (pronounced Are You Ready dot FYI) emerged from these reflections as a platform to share insights and pose reflective questions on readiness through articles, videos, podcasts, and tools.  Recognizing the subjectivity of our journeys, we aim to create a space for diverse experiences, encouraging growth, understanding, and a community of shared wisdom.

The website is a work in progress, but here is a glimpse of the direction we’re heading:

We’ve created the RuReady Adult Readiness Framework, which is based on a Three-Domain, Three-Level Framework.  At the highest level, the framework teaches that success in life depends on the mastery of three domains: Personal, Professional, and Leadership, either formally or informally.  A capable adult must develop competence in these three domains, growing in Capability and Capacity in each of the domains.  First, master yourself, then you master your profession, and eventually, you lead people and organizations.  Most people try to lead others before they can lead themselves, resulting in unnecessary stress and challenges.  The RuReady Adult Readiness Framework gives you the tools, the language, and a clear path forward.

In the Personal Domain, we begin by exploring Basic Capability Skills, i.e., Life Stability skills, which represent the essential foundation every adult must build before anything else can take root.  We then transition to exploring Advanced Personal Skills, where survival becomes momentum.  Finally, Personal Mastery is the ongoing pursuit of becoming your best self, not as a destination, but as a way of life.

In the Professional Domain, we begin by exploring Basic Employability Skills, which are the starting line of your professional life.  We then transition to Professional Performance, which is what separates those who hold a job from those who build a career.  Finally, we explore what it means to create a Career Strategy, the art and science of designing a professional life with intention.

In the Leadership Domain, we begin by exploring Basic Team Leadership, where the shift from individual contributor to leader begins.  We then explore Advanced Organizational Leadership skills, where you’re leading leaders, managing teams of teams, influencing culture, and making consequential decisions, often with incomplete information.  Finally, we explore Master level Leadership Skills, which is leadership at its highest expression, the relentless, systems-level commitment to making the organization better than you found it.

Wherever you are in your journey, building your foundation, advancing your career, or leading others, there’s a place for you here.

Who We Are

RuReady was founded in partnership by Eric and his wife, Rekha, who, between them, have built careers spanning military leadership, executive development, and organizational coaching.  Their story is the foundation of everything on this site.  You can see their bios here.

We feel profoundly blessed to have been surrounded by countless generous individuals who have guided, mentored, and supported us on our journey to becoming successful professionals.  From a young age, our parents instilled in us the significance of a strong work ethic, the value of education, and the importance of nurturing relationships.  Early in our careers, we learned the irreplaceable value of firsthand experience.  Our supervisors encouraged us to step out of our comfort zones, understanding that the only true way to master presenting to a large audience is by actually doing it.

Throughout our lives, our parents, friends, family, and mentors have generously shared their wisdom with us, and we consider these shared moments invaluable.  In the spirit of paying forward, we share some of our personal stories, hard-earned insights, and reflective journeys where life’s lessons aren’t just shared; they’re a compass for navigating the complexities of life.  We hope you find it insightful and beneficial.
